Chapitre 1033 spoilers version VF : « Shimotsuki Kozaburo ».

Couverture du chapitre

Sur la couverture, Tashigi et Smoker jouent avec des pingouins sur une île gelée. Tashigi est la méchante qui se rend avec un drapeau blanc (elle porte un chapeau de requin), les pingouins sont les héros qui battent Tashigi (l’un d’eux est sur Tashigi avec une épée en carton). Smoker est assis en arrière-plan et ne fait rien, tandis qu’un pingouin le regarde, effrayé.

Zoro contre King

• Le chapitre s’ouvre à l’extérieur du château d’Onigashima, où Zoro et King continuent de se battre. Zoro se plaint à Enma d’avoir perdu le contrôle sans permission, puis il parvient à retirer son Haki (le bras de Zoro reprend sa taille normale).
• King en profite pour lui sauter dessus mais soudain, il s’arrête devant Zoro sans rien faire. Zoro est surpris mais il plante son « Sandai Kitetsu » dans le ventre de King. Cependant, l’attaque ne fait rien à King.
• King :  » Tu as touché le « bon endroit ». « 
• Zoro :  » Ah… « 
• Soudain, il y a une énorme explosion là où ils se trouvent.

Sanji vs Queen

• Dans la tour Leftbrain du Dôme du Crâne. Queen a été frappé si fort par Sanji au chapitre 1 031 qu’il a traversé plusieurs pièces. Maintenant, il arrive juste à marcher jusqu’à Sanji.
• Queen :  » Muhahahaha~~~ !!
• Est-ce que tu viens de parler au téléphone avec « Chasseur de Pirates » ?
• Ce type ne peut pas gagner contre le Roi… !! « 
• Sanji :  » … « 
• Queen :  » King est un survivant de la race éteinte des « Lunaria » !!
• Ils sont la race monstrueuse qui peut survivre dans n’importe quelle condition dans la nature.
• C’est pourquoi ils ont été appelés « Dieu » par les gens dans les temps anciens !! « 
• Sanji :  » Comment ce genre de race s’est-elle éteinte ? « 
• Queen :  » Vas-y et demande l’histoire toi-même !!! « 
• Au moment où Reine dit cela, on voit qu’il ouvre la bouche pour tirer un rayon laser sur Sanji.

Zoro vs King – Partie 2

• Retour à l’extérieur du château d’Onigashima. Zoro s’est enduit du Haki de la couleur des armes juste à temps, sinon il serait déjà mort. King est devant lui, il est indemne bien qu’il vienne de se faire exploser.
• Zoro attaque à nouveau King.
• Zoro :  » Ittoryu « Iai » (One Sword Style « Sword Draw »).
• « Shi Shishi Sonson » (Chant du Lion de la Mort) !!! « 
• Zoro attaque à nouveau King à bout portant, mais ne lui fait rien. King, sans bouger du sol, se transforme en forme de Pteranodon et saisit à nouveau la crête de sa tête pour attaquer Zoro à bout portant avec  » Tempura Udon « .
• Zoro dégaine ses épées pour contrer l’attaque de King, mais Enma perd le contrôle et recommence à absorber le Haki de Zoro.
• Zoro : « Attendez une minute !! Enma !!
• Juste dans un moment comme ça !!! « 
• King :  » « Tempura Udon » (Proud Imperial Marten) !!! « 
• Zoro ne peut pas l’esquiver et il est partiellement touché par l’attaque de King. L’attaque détruit une partie de l’île d’Onigashima. A cause de l’attaque, Zoro laisse tomber ses 3 épées.
• King :  » Ohh, un homme d’épée traîné par sa propre épée !!! « 
• C’est la première fois que je vois quelque chose comme ça !! « 
• Zoro saute dans le vide pour attraper une de ses épées.
• Zoro :  » « Sandai Kitetsu » !! « 
• Alors qu’il est en l’air, Zoro se souvient de la conversation qu’il a eue avec Hitetsu au sujet de cette épée.
• Hitetsu :  » Tu manies déjà « Sandai Kitetsu ».
• C’est l’un des miens. « 
• Zoro :  » Quoi, vraiment !? « 

Le flashback de Zoro

• Ensuite, Zoro se souvient aussi comment il a obtenu l’épée à Loguetown.
• Zoro :  » Cette épée est ensorcelée. « 
• Ippon Matsu : « Tu es fou ? Je ne peux pas te vendre cette épée !!
• Si tu meurs, ce sera comme si je t’avais tué moi-même !! « 
• Zoro :  » Je la prends. « 
• King s’envole vers Zoro et lui donne un coup de pied avec une attaque de flammes qui fracasse Zoro. Il a été sévèrement touché mais Zoro se relève pour attraper une autre de ses épées.
• Zoro :  » Wow… !! Hah… Hah…
• Tu n’es pas tombé… Je suis content que tu ailles bien.
• Wadou Ichimonji. « 
• Zoro se souvient maintenant du moment où il a reçu l’épée de Kuina.
• Zoro : « Sensei !! Puis-je avoir son sabre !!? « 
• Koushiro :  » … Je suppose que oui… « 
• Zoro :  » Je vais devoir tenir la promesse pour nous deux !!!
• Je vais devenir un si grand maître épéiste,
• que mon nom sera connu même au paradis !!! « 
• Zoro se souvient alors de l’autre partie de sa conversation avec Hitetsu.
• Hitetsu :  » Tu vois, cette lame blanche, « Wadou Ichimonji », et « Enma »
• … ont été fabriquées par le même homme !!
• Le forgeron « Shimotsuki Kouzaburou » ! !! « 
• Zoro relie alors l’information sur l’origine de ses sabres.
• Zoro : « A ce moment là, je n’ai pas pu y penser car c’était trop précipité…
• Mais comment se fait-il que les sabres « Wanokuni » ont fini dans le « East Blue » ? « 

King vs Zoro – Partie 3

• King est dans les airs et attaque Zoro avec une nouvelle technique appelée « Barizou Don » (Lames jumelles impériales – 刃裏双皇) avec laquelle il lance une rafale d’ondes de choc en battant des ailes. Zoro bloque les attaques, puis il récupère « Enma ». Mais « Enma » recommence à aspirer son Haki.
• King arrive à l’endroit où se trouve Zoro et le frappe avec une de ses ailes. Zoro bloque l’attaque mais le sol se brise et Zoro tombe dans une zone à l’intérieur du château. Pendant sa chute, Zoro se souvient d’une conversation qu’il a eue avec Momonosuke.
• Momonosuke : « Zorojuurou, on m’a dit de ne pas dire « sunacchi ». « King s’approche de Zoro et le frappe avec une de ses ailes. Zoro bloque l’attaque mais le sol se brise et Zoro tombe dans une zone à l’intérieur du château. Pendant sa chute, Zoro se souvient d’une conversation qu’il a eue avec Momonosuke.
• Momonosuke : « Zorojuurou, on m’a dit de ne pas dire « sunacchi ». « 
• Zoro :  » C’est juste quelque chose que le vieil homme de mon village m’a dit. Je ne l’ai jamais dit moi-même avant. « 
• Momonosuke :  » Quoi !? « 
• Zoro se souvient qu’il n’a jamais su le nom de ce vieil homme qui était toujours sur la côte. Le jour de sa mort, Zoro a découvert que le vieil homme était le grand-père de Kuina (on voit une photo de Kuina avec son père pleurant son grand-père). Zoro se souvient à nouveau de sa conversation avec Hitetsu.
• Hitetsu :  » Le forgeron « Shimotsuki Kouzaburou » !!.
• Il a enfreint les lois et a quitté cette terre il y a plus de 50 ans. « 

Flashback de Zoro – Partie 2

• Le flashback commence, il se déroule il y a 13 ans dans le village de Shimotsuki (East Blue). Après avoir perdu une nouvelle fois contre Kuina, Zoro se rend sur la côte pour continuer à s’entraîner. Le vieil homme dont Zoro se souvient (Shimotsuki Kouzaburou) lui apprend le mot « sunacchi » (le vieil homme le dit en katakana (スナッチ) et non en hiragana (すなっち) comme Momonosuke).
• Zoro demande au vieil homme s’il a été autrefois un samouraï, puisque tout le monde le dit dans le dojo. Kouzaburou lui dit de ne rien dire à ce sujet, sinon les Marines viendront le chercher. Il dit ensuite à Zoro de faire demi-tour et de partir. Zoro tire la langue au vieil homme et part pour continuer son entraînement.
• Kouzaburou observe Zoro pendant qu’il s’entraîne.
• Kouzaburou : « Tu t’ennuies au dojo ? « 
• Zoro : « J’ai encore perdu contre Kuina !!
• Alors je dois continuer à m’entraîner !! « 
• Kouzaburou donne à Zoro deux sabres d’entraînement, Zoro est choqué et lui dit qu’il n’a pas d’argent pour les payer. Il lui répond que cela n’a pas d’importance.
• Kouzaburou :  » Ces sabres sont la seule chose que je peux fabriquer maintenant…
• Utilise-les pour t’entraîner.
• Les sabres sont des « outils pour prendre des vies » ! !! Créés pour tuer des gens !
• Les forgerons conçoivent des épées pour prendre autant de vies que possible ! !! « 
• Zoro :  » … !! « 
• Kouzaburou :  » Chaque épée a sa propre personnalité…
• que l’épéiste doit apprendre afin de la surmonter ! !!
• Un sabre dangereux est un « sabre maudit » !?
• Balivernes ! ! Les « épées maudites » ne sont que des « épées célèbres » qui sont craintes par les faibles !
• C’est pourquoi on les appelle « maudites » ! !
• L’épée est effrayante simplement parce qu’elle accomplit son « devoir » pour lequel elle a été conçue !
• Cette épée que j’ai créée quand j’étais jeune, était le « chef d’œuvre de ma vie »…
• C’était une épée qui était si sérieuse dans l’accomplissement de son « devoir » !
• J’ai donné à cette « célèbre épée » le nom du Roi des Enfers ! !! « 

Zoro et Enma

• Retour au présent. Zoro est allongé sur le sol avec un visage surpris, il comprend enfin tout.
• Zoro : « …Le Roi des Enfers… « Enma ». « 
• Le nom du village est « Shimotsuki ».
• Ce n’était donc pas une coïncidence… ? « 
• Zoro se souvient que les enfants du village de Shimotsuki ont dit que le village avait été créé par des pirates il y a très longtemps (selon leurs grands-parents). Puis il se souvient à nouveau des paroles d’Hitetsu.
• Zoro :  » Alors ce vieil homme qui était un samouraï Wanokuni… !! C’était le forgeron « Shimotsuki Kouzaburou » !!? « 
• Zoro se souvient d’autres mots de Kouzaburou.
• Kouzaburou :  » Les célèbres épées surveillent toujours les humains. Et choisiront un sabreur qu’ils jugent bon… !!! « 
• Zoro se souvient également des paroles d’un autre Ippon Matsu à Loguetown.
• Ippon Matsu :  » Une épée choisit son manieur. « 
• Zoro regarde Enma, qui est plaqué au sol. Bien qu’elle ne soit pas dans sa main, l’épée est toujours active (elle expulse de la fumée) et le bras de Zoro est toujours affecté par l’absorption du Haki d’Enma.
• Zoro : « Elle est enfin arrivée, l’épée qui m’a choisi. Et qui me teste… !!! « 
• Zoro attrape Enma, son bras retrouve sa taille normale. King est en face de lui.
• Zoro :  » C’est vrai… qu’une épée n’a pas de mauvaise volonté par nature.
• Cela signifie que c’est ma puissance qui n’est toujours pas suffisante !!
• Peut-être qu’Oden pourrait se battre facilement, même avec autant de Haki drainé de lui… !? « 
• C’est vrai, Enma ? « 

King vs Zoro – Partie 4

• Des subordonnés de Beast Pirates s’approchent de la zone pour aider King. Certains d’entre eux pensent que s’ils battent Zoro, ils obtiendront une promotion. Zoro continue de réfléchir.
• Zoro :  » Que dois-je faire pour stabiliser mon Haki… ?
• Si je laisse se déchaîner autant de Haki, cela peut finir par me coûter la vie. « 
• Soudain, les subordonnés de Beast Pirates se mettent à écumer de la bouche et tombent.
• Zoro :  » Non…
• C’est bien comme ça !! « 
• Zoro se tient devant King. Ses 3 épées sont couvertes de lumière noire et de fumée.
• King : « Je vois…
• Alors tu as l’intention de devenir un « roi » ? « 
• Zoro :  » Huh ? « 
• Puis, Zoro se souvient des mots que Luffy lui a dit lorsque Zoro a accepté de rejoindre l’équipage de Luffy.
• Luffy :  » Le plus grand épéiste du monde, c’est génial !!!
• Et ça tombe bien puisque ton nouveau patron va être le roi des pirates !
• Tout autre choix me ferait mal paraître ! !! « 
• Zoro répond à King avec un sourire sur la bouche et un regard de défi.
• Zoro :  » Oui… J’ai une promesse que j’ai faite à mon capitaine.
• Et mon meilleur ami !!! «

Chapter cover

In the cover, Tashigi and Smoker are playing with some penguins in a frozen island. Tashigi is the villain who surrenders with a white flag (she wears a shark hat), the penguins are the heroes who defeat Tashigi (one of them is on top of Tashigi with a cardboard sword). Smoker is sitting in the background doing nothing, while a penguin looks at him scared.

King vs Zoro

• Chapter opens outside of Onigashima’s castle, where Zoro and King continue fighting. Zoro complains to Enma about having gotten out of control without permission and then he manages to pull his Haki back (Zoro’s arm returns to its normal size).
• King takes this chance to jump at him but suddenly, he stops in front of Zoro doing nothing. Zoro is surprised but he stabs his “Sandai Kitetsu” in King’s belly. However, the attack does nothing to King.
• King: « You hit the “right spot”. »
• Zoro: « Ah… »
• Suddenly, there’s a huge explosion where they are.

Queen vs Sanji

• In the Leftbrain Tower of the Skull Dome. Queen was hit so hard by Sanji in chapter 1,031 that he went through multiple rooms. Now he just manages to walk back to Sanji.
• Queen: « Muhahahaha~~~!!
• Did you just talk on the phone with “Pirate Hunter”!?
• That guy cannot win against King…!! »
• Sanji: « … »
• Queen: « King is a survivor from the extinct “Lunaria race”!!
• They are the monstrous race that can survive in any condition in nature.
• That’s why they were called “god” by people in ancient time!! »
• Sanji: « How did that kind of race go extinct? »
• Queen: « Go and ask the history yourself!!! »
• As Queen says this, we see that he opens his mouth to shoot a laser beam at Sanji.

King vs Zoro – Part 2

• Back to outside of Onigashima’s castle. Zoro coated himself with Color of Arms Haki just on time, or else he would already be dead. King is in front of him, he’s uninjured despite just blowing up himself.
• Zoro attacks King again.
• Zoro: « Ittoryu “Iai” (One Sword Style “Sword Draw”).
• “Shi Shishi Sonson” (Song of the Death Lion Song)!!! »
• Zoro attacks King point-blank again, but does nothing to him. King, without moving from the ground, transforms into a Pteranodon form and grabs the crest of his head again to attack Zoro point-blank with “Tempura Udon”.
• Zoro draws his swords to counter King’s attack, but Enma loses control and starts absorbing Zoro’s Haki again.
• Zoro: « Wait a minute!! Enma!!
• Just in a moment like this!!! »
• King: « “Tempura Udon” (Proud Imperial Marten)!!! »
• Zoro cannot dodge it and he’s partly hit by King’s attack. The attack destroys part of Onigashima Island. Due to the attack, Zoro dropps his 3 swords.
• King: « Ohh, a swordman dragged down by his own sword!! »
• This is the first time I’ve seen something like that!! »
• Zoro jumps down to the void to grab one of his swords.
• Zoro: « “Sandai Kitetsu”!! »
• While he’s in the air, Zoro remembers the conversation he had with Hitetsu about that sword.
• Hitetsu: « You already wield “Sandai Kitetsu”.
• That is one of mine. »
• Zoro: « What, really!? »

Zoro’s flashback

• Then Zoro also remembers how he got the sword in Loguetown.
• Zoro: « This sword is bewitched. »
• Ippon Matsu: « Are you a fool? I can’t sell you that sword!!
• If you died, it’d be like I killed you myself!! »
• Zoro: « I’ll take it. »
• King flies up to Zoro and kicks him with a flaming attack that smashes Zoro. He was hit badly but Zoro gets up to grab another of his swords.
• Zoro: « Wow…!! Hah… Hah…
• You didn’t fall… I’m glad you’re okay.
• Wadou Ichimonji. »
• Zoro now remembers the moment when he got Kuina’s sword.
• Zoro: « Sensei!! May I have her sword!!? »
• Koushiro: « … I suppose so… »
• Zoro: « I’ll have to keep the promise for both of us!!!
• I’m going to become such a great master swordsman,
• that my name will be known even in heaven!!! »
• Zoro then remembers the other part of his conversation with Hitetsu.
• Hitetsu: « You see, that white blade, “Wadou Ichimonji”, and “Enma”
• … were both crafted by the same man!!
• The blacksmith “Shimotsuki Kouzaburou”!! »
• Zoro then connects the information about the origin of his swords.
• Zoro: « That time I couldn’t think about it because it was all too rushed…
• But how come “Wanokuni” swords
• ended up in the “East Blue”? »

King vs Zoro – Part 3

• King is in the air and attacks Zoro with a new technique called “Barizou Don” (Imperial Twin Blades – 刃裏双皇) with which he launches a burst of shock waves by flapping his wings. Zoro blocks the attacks, then he recovers “Enma”. But “Enma” starts sucking his Haki again.
• King comes to where Zoro is and hits him with one of his wing. Zoro blocks the attack but the ground breaks and Zoro falls into an area inside the castle. As he falls, Zoro remembers a conversation he had with Momonosuke.
• Momonosuke: « Zorojuurou, I was told not to say “sunacchi”. »
• Zoro: « It’s just something the old guy in my village told me. I’ve never said it myself before. »
• Momonosuke: « What!? »
• Zoro remembers that he never knew the name of that old man who was always on the coast. On the day of his death, Zoro found out that the old man was Kuina’s grandfather (we see a picture of Kuina with his father crying for her grandfather). Zoro remembers his conversation with Hitetsu again.
• Hitetsu: « The blacksmith “Shimotsuki Kouzaburou”!!.
• He broke the laws and left this land over 50 years ago. »

Zoro’s Flashback – Part 2

• Flashback starts, it takes place 13 years ago in Shimotsuki Village (East Blue). After losing again to Kuina, Zoro goes to the coast to continue training. There is the old man Zoro remembered (Shimotsuki Kouzaburou) and he teachs Zoro the word “sunacchi” (the old man says it in katakana (スナッチ) instead of in hiragana (すなっち) like Momonosuke).
• Zoro asks the old man if he was once a samurai, since everyone in the dojo say it. Kouzaburou tells him not to say anything about it, or else the Marines will come for him. He then tells Zoro to turn around and leave. Zoro sticks out his tongue at the old man and leaves to continue his training.
• Kouzaburou observes Zoro as he trains.
• Kouzaburou: « Are you bored at the dojo? »
• Zoro: « I lost again to Kuina!!
• So I must keep training!! »
• Kouzaburou gives Zoro two practise swords, Zoro is shocked and tells him that he has no money to pay for them. He tells him that it doesn’t matter.
• Kouzaburou: « These swords are the only thing I can make now…
• Use them to practise.
• Swords are “tools for taking lifes”!! Created to kill people!!
• Blacksmiths design swords to take as many lives as possible!! »
• Zoro: « …!! »
• Kouzaburou: « Each sword has its own personality
• that the swordsman must learn in order to overcome it!!
• A dangerous sword is a “cursed sword”!?
• Foolishness!! “Cursed swords” are just “famed swords” that are feared by the weak!!
• That’s why they call them “cursed”!!
• The sword is scary simply because it’s performing its “duty” for it was made for!!
• That sword I created when I was young, was the “masterpiece of my life”…
• It was a sword that was so serious about doing its “duty”!!
• I gave that “famed sword” the name of the King of Underworld!!! »

Zoro and Enma

• Back to the present. Zoro is lying on the ground with a surprised face, he finally understands everything.
• Zoro: « …The King of Underworld…“Enma”. »
• The name of the village is “Shimotsuki”.
• So it wasn’t a coincidence…? »
• Zoro remembers how the children of Shimotsuki Village said that the village was created by pirates a long time ago (according to their grandparents). Then he remembers Hitetsu’s words again.
• Zoro: « So that old man who was a Wanokuni samurai…!! He was the blacksmith “Shimotsuki Kouzaburou”!!? »
• Zoro remembers other words from Kouzaburou.
• Kouzaburou: « Famed swords are always watching human. And will choose a swordman that they see fit…!! »
• Zoro also remembers another Ippon Matsu’s words in Loguetown.
• Ippon Matsu: « A sword chooses its wielder. »
• Zoro looks at Enma, who is pinned to the ground. Despite not being in his hand, the sword is still active (it expels smoke) and Zoro’s arm is still affected by Haki’s absorption from Enma.
• Zoro: « So it has finally come, the sword that has chosen me. And is testing me…!!! »
• Zoro grabs Enma, his arm returns to normal size. King is in front of him.
• Zoro: « It’s true… that a sword does not have any ill will by nature.
• That means it’s my power that is still not enough!!
• Maybe Oden could fight with ease, even with this much Haki was beking drained out of him…!? « 
• Is that right, Enma? »

King vs Zoro – Part 4

• Some Beast Pirates’ subordinates approach the area to help King. Some of them believe that if they defeat Zoro, they will get a promotion. Zoro keeps thinking.
• Zoro: « What should I do to stabilize my Haki…!?
• If I allow this much Haki to be unleashed, it can end up taking my life. »
• Suddenly, Beast Pirates’ subordinates start foaming from their mouths and fall down.
• Zoro: « No…
• This is good the way it is!! »
• Zoro stands before King. His 3 swords are covered with black lighting and smoke.
• King: « I see…
• So do you intend to become a “king”? »
• Zoro: « Huh? »
• Then, Zoro remembers the words Luffy said to him when Zoro agreed to join Luffy’s crew.
• Luffy: « The world’s greatest swordsman, that’s great!!
• And it’s fitting since your new boss is going to be the King of the Pirates!
• Anything else would make me look bad!!! »
• Zoro answers King with a smile on his mouth and a challenging gaze.
• Zoro: « Yeah… I have a promise I made with my captain.
• And my best friend!!! »
